The Government wants to develop local communities and recognises theincreasingly sophisticated role the voluntary and community sectorplays in influencing policy and public service delivery. However thenecessary infrastructure has to be in place for frontline organisationsto continue to maintain, develop and enhance the services they provideto members of the public and local communities. This new website has been designed from an ICT perspective with this in mind.

We want to show how Information Communications Technology (ICT) can benefit Greater Merseyside's Voluntary, Community and Faith (VCF) sector. The intention is to use the new version of the site's Open Source platform to encourage frontline organisations to get involved. Over the coming weeks we will add news items about ICT that will hopefully be of interest to trustees, staff and volunteers alike; write articles about ICT topics; and try to stimulate debate via our user forums. The Directory will display information about other VCF websites whilst additional resources will be provided via our Weblinks page.
